All Equus Experiences are tailored to specific organizational needs and goals to benefit each client with the best return on investment possible. But whether you choose a half-day program or a week long encounter, an integral and unforgetable part of the Experience is "The Ring."
|
Imagine being enclosed in a sixty foot diameter ring with an un-tethered, un-bridled 1200 pound horse and you're asked to get the horse to perform specific tasks. AND, you can't touch the horse.
Imagine being enclosed in a board room with an un-tethered, un-bridled $120,000.00 a year Vice President and you're asked to get the VP to perform specific tasks. AND, you can't, (as much as you're tempted to), touch the VP.
In the Equus Experience, the "ring" is as real as it is a metaphor. It can be a boardroom, an office, a convention vendor display, a crime scene, a home or even a bedroom. The "ring" is what you make of it. The "horse" is a metaphor for infinite possibilities as well. The horse can be the VP of marketing, a sales prospect, a criminal, a teenager, a spouse. It can even be a personal memory.
The horse is a prey animal. The human is a predator animal. It is unnatural for a prey animal to be in a closed space with a predator. Understanding how human behavior is reflected by the "horse as a mirror" allows us to see our effects on an infinite possibility of "others" in our life. Learning how to use what we see more clearly with repetitive trial and error resulting in improved competency through neurolinguistic self reprograming. The science of neurolintuistic programing is real and the "self re-programing" is what make the ring experience profound.
The ring experience is potentially dangerous, but in a controled safety centered environment. In the ring, "losing" is death, but how many "deaths" could you suffer because of a business opportunity lost from untrained and undisciplined emotional over-reactions to buyers or a failure to understand the effect your behavior has on others?
The ring experience is designed to allow you to explore yourself with the "horse as a mirror" in ways that are difficult, if not impossible, to match. Would you rather see your actions telegraphed through the eyes of a client in a dangerous business situation or through a horse in a safe environment? The ring helps you earn and understand trust. Before a horse can trust you, you must trust yourself because you're inviting the horse into your world. The same kind of trust clients need to have when you also invite them into your world. |

WARNING
Working in an environment with horses has inherent dangers. Safety for both participants and horses alike is of our utmost concern and interactions with horses are preceded by specific safety instruction. Unsupervised horse interactions are not permitted for beginners. Reactions of participants have at times been "visceral" to The Equus Experience, (generally from a psychological basis rather than from the proximity of a horse). As Bruce explains, "The stuff that comes out of people when they're in the ring is an amazing window to the soul. Powerful emotional experiences are frequently encountered."
Participants are instructed, and encouraged, to let the staff know immediately if they are excessively uncomfortable with the psychological and emotional effects of the experience so they can be withdrawn to a neutral environment before deciding on further participation.
